The Kensington Temple Institute of Education

The Kensington Temple Institute of Education (KTIOE) was established in 2004 as part of the vision of KT’s Senior Minister Colin Dye to penetrate the sector of education, prepare God’s people for marketplace ministry and bring Christian influence to wider society. Christians for far too long have disengaged from this extremely influential sector, so much so that modern education is becoming increasingly secular and anti-Christian. Our desire at Kensington Temple is to engage with education once more and enable Christians to be effective disciples in their chosen vocational spheres. If we can impact education – an area which very much deals with the dissemination of ideas into society – we go a long way towards influencing society as a whole. This is indeed one of the major reasons behind KTIOE, our new and very own independent tutorial college.

As a Christian college, KTIOE aims to not only train students to the highest level in their chosen subjects, but firmly ground them in the core values of the Christian faith. Students will not only leave with recognised academic qualifications that will put them in good stead for higher education and/or employment, but also with a passion to pursue the cause of Jesus Christ in their chosen field.

We offer a wide range of high quality courses providing students with good flexibility of choice, including A Levels accredited by Oxford, Cambridge and RSA examinations (OCR), and undergraduate and postgraduate courses for which accreditation is being sought and in association with Regents Theological College. The undergraduate and postgraduate courses will be available as of September 2006.

Current A Level subjects (2006-2007) include Business Studies, Mathematics, Performing Arts, Religious Studies/ Theology, Modern Languages: French, German, Spanish and Portuguese. Also: Art, Accounting, Biblical Hebrew, Classical Greek, Graphic Design, English Language, English Literature, General Studies, Government & Politics, History, Human Biology, Information & Communication Technology, Media Studies, Music, Psychology & Sociology. Complete specifications for all current subjects are available in the A Levels section.

The undergraduate course is a Certificate of Higher Education in Applied Theology and is equivalent to the first year of a degree (BA).

Postgraduate courses include an MA in the Study of Pentecostal and Charismatic Issues or MTh in Applied Theology.

We recognize that education is crucially important and the courses on offer are designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge for future success (professionally and spiritually), whatever their future career plans.
Our staff are dedicated to helping students achieve their maximum potential. Our refreshingly interactive teaching approach coupled with our thoughtful and creative Christian support means that a student’s time at KTIOE will be thoroughly enjoyable.

The Christian Approach

At KTIOE we want to develop students not only in their educational abilities and special interests but also in their Christian calling. We believe our college offers an environment quite different to that of a traditional school, and the college is committed to helping all students reach their maximum potential in all aspects of personal development, spiritual as well as academic. This is one of the reasons why we give every student the opportunity to thoroughly benefit from the life, vision and ministry of Kensington Temple.

Our teachers have high expectations and we encourage students to aim high too. However, we also understand the command of Jesus in Matthew 6:33 to “seek first the kingdom of God”, and so we not only place an emphasis on hard work and good organisation, but also on enhancing our Christian commitment.
