The Naomi Children Fund Needs You
"Then Naomi took the child and laid him on her bosom, and became a nurse to him." Ruth 4: 16
The Naomi Children Fund is a Kensington Temple London City Church initiative to make a difference in the lives of children that are facing great social and spiritual needs.
WHY GIVE REGULARLY TO NEEDY CHILDREN
In 1999 Derek Prince brought what Colin Dye believed was an apostolic
word to Kensington Temple on the subject of widows and orphans.
Derek challenged the body of Christ to take seriously ministry to
the needy of the world, especially children. In fact Derek believes
that when this happens revival will break out in Britain.
God is the "Father of the fatherless
" (Psalm 68:
5). He cares passionately for those who are oppressed and is very
angry with the oppressors. David says:
"I know that the Lord will maintain the cause of the afflicted
and justice for the poor" (Psalm 140:12)."When you reap
the harvest of your land, you shall not wholly reap the corners
of your field, nor shall you gather the gleanings of your harvest.
And you shall not glean your vineyard, nor shall you gather every
grape of your vineyard; you shall leave them for the poor and the
stranger." Leviticus 20:9,10. Here we find a strong principle
of setting aside of income specifically for the poor. Agricultural
produce was the main income of God's people in the Old Testament;
outside of tithing they were to leave some of their income specifically
for the needy. A good example of this is the book of Ruth, where
the poor have some of the crop left for them to glean.
In fact an Israelite could not be a true Israelite without caring for the poor, the fatherless and the widows. Job actually considered it a sin not to actively be involved in helping such in need as children. "If I have kept the poor from their desire, or caused the eyes of the widow to fail, or eaten my morsel by my self, so that the fatherless may not eat of it (but from my youth I reared him as a father)" (Job31: 16). Here Job is proclaiming that he was blameless in his dealings with poor children. He took a fatherly responsibility for the poor and underprivileged children around him. Job even says later that if he had not used his hand to help the needy, then it had no use in his body!
Throughout the prophets there are three particular sins that provoke God's anger: idolatry, adultery and indifference to the needs of the poor (Isaiah 18:16). The first two we are very aware of but the last ?
What is pure religion? Is it speaking in tongues? Is it prayer etc. James says, "Pure and undefiled religion is to visit and care for orphans and widows" Are you practising this kind of religion? If not when did you receive your exemption from the Lord from this command?
Do you know that if we are not helping the needy it can prevent our prayers being answered, especially prayers for our own needs: " Whoever shuts his ears to the cry of the poor will cry and not be heard"(Proverbs. 21:13)
WHAT DOES THE NAOMI CHILDREN FUND DO?
Not all of us are called to personally start orphanages, adopt children
or go into full time ministry to children in need. However we can
partner with others that are doing the work, and in that way their
work for the Lord also becomes our work for the Lord! The Naomi
Children Fund seeks to find ministries that are helping children
in difficult social situations. It also seeks to help the good news
of Jesus reach children of all ages. Although the fund has only
been around a short time and thus has only a small amount of money
these are a few of the things we have done.
Children from Bethel Orphanage, Benin Republic
For the last six months we have sent regular financial aid to the Bethel Orphanage in the Benin Republic. Pauline Bossou who heads up the work is delighted, giving God thanks for the financial support that has directly facilitated the feeding and schooling of 8 of the orphans she has under her care. This support is set to continue for the next six months.
Two children, who previously were likely to have been sold into a life of prostitution by their parents, have been rescued as result of the Naomi Fund's support of 'Operation Restoration'. The operation facilitates the rescue of the children about to be sold into prostitution by relocating them to a Christian 'Ranch' in Thailand where they are schooled, fed and loved.
In support of the ELIM Denominations interest in Botosani, the Naomi Fund has provided a substantial donation to the 'Bridge of Christian Relief', a relief organisation that consists of two 'children's homes' in Botosani.
In a concerted effort to continue to facilitate the social work of our G12 partners in India, the Naomi Fund has sponsored two children for a year from the Dharvai 'slum', the largest slum in Asia. The sponsorship will provide education at the 'New Life Nursery School' as well as guaranteeing them regular meals.
For those that take out a monthly standing order we will send a quarterly newsletter explaining how your money has practically and spiritually helped children from all around the world. We will explain some of the diverse children's ministries that we have helped and profile them. By a simple monthly standing order you will be practically touching the lives of real children in real need. Choose to lay aside an amount of your monthly income to go directly into the work amongst children in need.
For those that fill in a standing order for the amount of £5 or more each month, we will send to you free the Derek Prince audio tape "Caring for Orphans and Widows", also we will send you a free copy of the book Visions of Heaven by H.A. Baker. This book tells the stories of beggars, outcasts, homeless and orphan boys in an orphanage in China that experienced real visions of Jesus, heaven, hell and angels. See the article on PAGE 12 Taken directly from the book.
