In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you (1Thess.5:16-18)
This week is a special week of thanksgiving at KT. We are, of course, always thankful to the Lord for His daily blessings; but it is good to gather together every so often as a church with no other plan but to celebrate God's goodness and our gratefulness to Him. We do this through praise, testimony and offerings.
Wed 24th Nov Our Senior Minister Colin Dye is leading us in a special Thanksgiving service at KT at 7pm. We will be giving testimony to the things the Lord has done for us in the past year. We will also be giving the Lord thanksgiving in our worship. We will have an opportunity to give dried food and tins of food (for example: rice, pasta or tinned vegetables) for charities in London feeding the needy.
This week is also a special thanksgiving gift week. We are being encouraged to bring a special thanksgiving financial offering to the thanksgiving service this Wednesday, or to the coming Sunday Gift Day services. In our thanksgiving services this Sunday we will give our regular offering but then also later in the services there will be an opportunity to give a special thanksgiving offering. These special gifts will be used to fund special pioneer areas of our ministry such as our television ministry to the Middle East, our work in reaching out to Muslims, and our pioneer overseas missions work.
Prayer, praise and thanksgiving all go in company. The Psalms are filled with many songs of praise and hymns of thanksgiving, all pointing back to the results of prayer. Thanksgiving comes out into the open, it is the outward expression of inner gratitude to God. It is the giving out of something to God in praise, thankksgiving and offerings. As prayer sets God to work, so answered prayer sets thanksgiving to work.
Thanksgiving follows answered prayer just as day succeeds night. Only one of the 10 lepers that Jesus healed came back to give thanks, but it sealed his healing. Thanksgiving seals the victories, blessings and breakthroughs that God gives to us.
God bless you all
